Sections: USCF rated Open and Scholastic sections and an Unrated non-USCF section
- The Open section may be split into multiple sections by rating at the tournament director’s discretion if needed based on attendance and range of participant ratings
- Scholastic section entrants must be under 18 years old and rated under 1300 USCF. Over 1300 rated students should register for Open. Those under 18 and rated between 1100 and 1300 may choose either section.
- The Unrated section will follow USCF rules, but will not have cash prizes and will not be submitted to the USCF or require membership. It is intended for newer players who wish to get tournament experience. We will have special score sheets available for people new to chess notation to facilitate it, but keeping score will not be mandatory in the unrated section.
Entry Fee:
- Open: $35 with online registration by 9/7 9p, $40 day of the event. Early bird registration $30 by 8/15.
- Scholastic: $25 with online registration by 9/7 9p, $30 day of the event. Early bird registration $20 by 8/15.
- Unrated: non-USCF: $8 with online registration by 9/7 9p, $10 day of the event.
Walk-in Registration: 9a - 10a. Any entries after 10a will get a first round bye.
Rounds: R1 10:15a, Lunch Break: 11:45a, R2: 1p, R3: 2:45p, R4: 4:30p
Byes: One ½ point bye allowed must be requested prior to round 2 being paired and cannot be changed
Prizes:
- Open section: $300 total prize fund based on 25 paid entries • 1st: $120, 2nd: $70, Top Under 1600: $60, Top Under 1200: $50
(Unrated players are not eligible for “Under” prizes)
- Scholastic section: Trophies for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, medals for best U1000, U800 and U600
- Unrated: Trophy for 1st
- Players are expected to bring their own chess sets, clocks, and pens/pencils
- All players in rated sections must have a valid, active USCF membership to play. You can obtain or renew USCF membership with registration online or at the door. The current Month’s Rating Supplement will be used.
